Human Performance

Modern single-seater racing places extreme physical demands on the human body, requiring drivers to operate as fine-tuned, elite endurance athletes.

Our Head of Human Performance, Simon Hayes, directs a comprehensive science programme tailored specifically to the unique physiological stresses of high-G racing. Training regimens focus heavily on building the specific neck strength, core stability, and cardiovascular endurance necessary to withstand intense lateral and longitudinal forces over an arduous race weekend or test days in a new car.

To manage this elite development scientifically, we deploy cutting-edge wearable technology to continuously monitor our drivers' training loads, physiological strain, and recovery cycles. Recognising that our drivers are developing teenagers, this framework strictly balances athletic optimisation with holistic well-being. Simon's department actively manages educational integration, liaising with schools and tutors to ensure that academic excellence is rigorously maintained alongside an international racing and testing calendar. We protect the child’s long-term development, building a sustainable physical foundation that prevents burnout and sustains a decades-long career.
